ΩLuis Navarro and the Officer’s Cross of Belgo–Hispanic Merit (1990)

On June 24, 1990, in Brussels, Luis Navarro was awarded the Officer’s Cross of Belgo–Hispanic Merit (Cruz de Oficial al Mérito Belgo–Hispánico), one of the highest distinctions granted by the Asociación Belgo–Hispánica.

The recognition included:

Official Diploma: stamped with the seals of the association and international consulates, certifying the honor.

Medal: an elegant red-enamel cross crowned with the royal emblem, symbolizing cultural prestige and authority.

This award highlighted Navarro’s role as a cultural bridge between Spain and Belgium, acknowledging how his Navarresque Surrealism transcended national boundaries. More than artistic merit, it celebrated his contribution to cultural diplomacy and the universal values embedded in his art.
