ΩLuis Navarro and the "Sette Colli di Roma" International Prize
In July 1980, Luis Navarro received a Diploma of Merit at the VII Gran Premio Internazionale “I Sette Colli di Roma” in Rome. Organized by the Centre de Liaison des Artistes Peintres et Amateurs d’Art (Paris) in collaboration with the Accademia Studi Arte nel Mondo Leonardo da Vinci (Rome), the prize symbolized the cultural twinning of Paris and Rome under the theme “Gemellaggio Parigi–Roma.”
The ceremony was held at the prestigious Hotel Jolly, in the Raffaello and Tiziano Halls. The award’s name, “The Seven Hills of Rome,” recalls the city’s legendary foundations, reinforcing Rome’s place as a cradle of Western art. For Navarro, the recognition highlighted his surrealist experimentation and connected him to the artistic traditions of Renaissance and Baroque masters. It was an early milestone confirming the cross-European appreciation of his art.
